Peter I (the Great) Poltina (1/2 Rouble) (1719), Red mint,_x000D_ Bitkin-1022 (R1), Diakov-10 (R2), Petrov 5 (8 Rub), variety with_x000D_ large cross on orb, AU55 NGC. Obv. Laureate portrait of Peter I_x000D_ right. Rev. Crowned Double-headed Imperial eagle with date in_x000D_ Cyrillic. A superior example of this rare Peter I type. The strike_x000D_ is bold, for the issue, and traces of original mint luster are_x000D_ visible around some of the devices. The surfaces show evidence of_x000D_ multiple strikes, both on the obverse and reverse, but there do not_x000D_ appear to be any significant imperfections. Only one piece has been_x000D_ certified in AU 55 by NGC, with one finer (AU58), and I cannot_x000D_ imagine that the example certified in AU58 could be a more pleasing_x000D_ piece than this coin.
