Nicholas I platinum Proof 3 Roubles 1828-CПБ PR65 NGC, St._x000D_ Petersburg mint, KM-C177, Fr-160, Bit-73 (R1). A dazzling and_x000D_ enchanting gem, and one from the series which introduced platinum_x000D_ to the world of coinage. The fields are superbly brilliant and_x000D_ lustrous, while the devices are fully frosted and ardently argent._x000D_ Though lacking the 'cameo' designation on the holder, it is overtly_x000D_ apparent that that was an oversight, as this charming specimen is_x000D_ clearly worthy and deserving of it. One of just four pieces graded_x000D_ at this level by NGC, with only two finer--one of which is an PCGS_x000D_ PR65+ Deep Cameo, which realized a hammer of $16,000 in our 2017_x000D_ ANA auction (sale 3056, lot 30443).
