Paul I silver "Heavy" 10 Kopecks 1797 CM-ФЦ MS61 NGC, St._x000D_ Petersburg mint, Bitkin-26 (R), KM-C97.1. Obv. Crowned Paul I_x000D_ monogram. Rev. Date and value with branches below. Mottled gray_x000D_ toning, with luster beneath. Only three pieces have been certified_x000D_ by NGC and PCGS combined, with none finer than this example. An_x000D_ extremely rare, one-year type, and the first example we have seen._x000D_ The 1797 silver issues of Paul I were heavier, for all_x000D_ denominations, 5 Kopecks-Rouble, as Paul I attempted to have the_x000D_ silver coinage conform to the Albertus Rouble standard. This change_x000D_ was unsuccessful and all of the silver coinage was changed back to_x000D_ the standard weights after 1797.
