Population of three at this level with two finer at NGC and PCGS, with none seen in mint state so far. A magnificent example from the second year after the founding of Saint Petersburg, at a time when the entirety of the city was within the Peter and Paul Fortress. Struck the same year Peter The Great formed the Russian Naval Infantry in the middle of the Great Northern War. The historical and numismatic significance of the coin can not be overstated, without question one of the most prized coins from the era and in breathtaking condition. Lightly toned and well struck, the portrait and reverse eagle both exhibit bountiful amounts of detail under light tone. Fully original, a coin that will no doubt add tremendous depth and weight to the collection it enters. Estimate: $7,000 - $10,000.NGC EF-45.
