Paul I Heavy Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1797 CM-ФЦ MS63 Prooflike_x000D_NGC, St. Petersburg mint, Bitkin-21 (R), Sev-2400, KM-C99.1._x000D_Obv. Cruciform crowned Imperial monogram with the date. Rev._x000D_Four-line legend in garnished tablet. The very rare, and seldom_x000D_offered "Heavy 1/2 Rouble". An extremely popular one-year type. The_x000D_weights of all of the 1797 silver issues were much higher than the_x000D_following year's coins. The 1797 Rouble had the weight of the 1796_x000D_Albertus Rouble, and the Poltina was half that weight, or 14.62_x000D_grams. Because of this excess weight versus the following year's_x000D_coins, these "Heavy" issues were probably melted at a very high_x000D_rate, thus causing examples in all conditions to be quite rare._x000D_This spectacular piece is boldly struck, with brilliant gleaming_x000D_mint luster. The prooflike surfaces display only light marks, with_x000D_nice reflectivity. This is the single finest example certified by_x000D_NGC, and PCGS combined and the only piece certified as_x000D_"Prooflike."_x000D_Ex.
